Ski Holidays In Val d’Isere

Val d’Isere or ‘Val’ if you like, is renowned for being one of the world’s first class ski resorts and the place to be seen. With just about the most cosmopolitan vibe you could wish for in a resort, the clientele in Val D’Isere range from the poshest folk to the steeziest boarders with the biggest sallopettes. In short ski holidays in Val d’Isere attract and cater for absolutely everybody.

The resort sits at 1850m with it’s own glacier reaching pisted heights of 3455m. It sits at the end of the Tarantaise valley which is one of Europe’s most snow secure ski domains. The beauty and magnificence of the mountains seems to flow right down into the village and flood the streets; with twinkling fairy lights adorning the trees, and the mind-blowing snow sculptures that line the roads. Although ski holidays in Val d’Isere are usually considered to be high budget, the vast array of options available mean that it really does not have to be the case anymore.

With new developments taking place to bring in a heated gondola equipped with Wi-fi and a whole new beginners area with a giant magic carpet, Val d’Isere remains at the top of its game and is still climbing ever higher.

Skiing In Val d’Isere

Skiing Val d’Isere should be on every snowsports fan’s bucket list. The marrying of the two neighbouring resorts, Val d’Isere and Tignes to form the Espace Killy area provides snow junkies with 300km of piste and an abundance of awesome off-piste. Both Val D’Isere and Tignes have their own glaciers, which means that even in the poorest snow conditions you will be able to find some powder to track. Although the Espace Killy ski area has never been best suited for beginners, the expansion and addition of a new beginners area in Val D’Isere is set to change all that, and the slopes for the intermediate and advanced skiers seem to never end.

If it’s speed you are after then be sure to check out the infamous Olympic black run, Le Face (pronounced ‘fass’); alternatively you can sit in the sunshine at the foot of it and watch people take it on, this cliff face is every bit as scary and steep as it sounds. Olympic downhill skier Patric Orlieb nailed Le Face in 2 minutes flat, do you reckon you can beat that?

When skiing in Val d’Isere no two moments are the same. Whether you are looking to perfect your backflips in the famous Val Park or ducking under branches on the tree-runs into La Daille, in Val d’Isere you’re never short on adventure. With a copious amount of bars lining the slopes, you’re are also never far from a rest and a chocolat chaud either!
